Thank-you
for taking the time to visit my
site. My name is Vicky Stata-Bauer, I
was born and raised in Rockford,
Illinois. I moved to Mount Airy,
Maryland in 1988, and I love it
here. We have a small forest for a
backyard, and Mother Nature's
creations are a huge inspiration
to me. I am awestruck by the
brilliant colors and intense
beauty of the natural world.
I've been interested in art
since I was a child, and have
been inspired by artists on both
sides of my family. My aunt,
Edna Waller, a talented artist, taught
me some basics early on.
She motivated me and encouraged
me to keep learning. Many
years later, around
2001, after my 3 children were
mostly grown, I started taking
continuing education art classes
at the local college here and
have been doing it ever since.
My instructor there is Shirley
Lippy, a gifted artist and skilled
teacher with a well balanced
approach. Shirley teaches
us to "see" in shapes, colors,
textures, etc. and so our eyes
and minds develop new capacities
when creating art. Shirley
helped me to finally believe
what I see, a new way of looking
at even ordinary objects. She
asks, what is it that you see?
Many times I have been surprised
by my answer. Blink, and
the light goes on.
I
appreciate all kinds of art and
am amazed by the endless ways in
which people express themselves.
It's impressive to me to see
what we can accomplish
through our creativity,
diversity, concepts and
perceptions. It seems that
art in all its various forms
brings us together as it helps
us appreciate our differences as
well as reveals to us what we
have in common.
